Money-Making Mobiles
If, like me, you have kitchen drawers full of old mobiles (my teenage children seem to change
theirs every few months), you may want to do what I’ve just done – sell them!
Sell My Mobile reveals the most
valuable handsets: iPhone 3GS 32GB £231.40; iPhone 3GS 16GB £230.20; Vertu Ascent £196; Vertu Signature £195;
iPhone 3GS 8GB £186; HTC Desire £180.70; Blackberry Bold 9700 £175.20; Nokia 8800 Sapphie Arte £168.10; Nokia N900
£166.98.
Okay, you probably
haven’t got some of these big money-makers in your kitchen drawers. But a handful of oldies can add up fast;
I made £127! Check out www.sellmymobile.com for more information.
What’s Your Overdraft Rate?I’ve just been sent a report which reveals
that banks and building societies charged an average of 19.1 per cent on overdrafts in August; and that’s the
highest since records began in 1995. Compare that to the current base rate of 0.5 per cent which is the lowest
since the Bank of England was set up in 1694.
What this means is that, if you
have an overdraft of £1000 you will be paying close to £200 in interest charges. What’s the solution? We have an
article in the pipeline from a customer who’s fighting back against these high charges – more to come.
Annuities – Where Next
If you or loved ones are coming
up to retirement you need to take professional advice, not least about the timing of taking your annuity. Recent
research from MGM Advantage reveals that only 2 per cent of IFA annuity specialists expect rates to rise over the
next five years.
Of the rest, 82 per cent expect
rates to fall by between 7.5 per cent and 10 per cent over this time. 18 per cent expect a fall of more than 10 per
cent. ‘There is a lot of pressure on annuity rates at the moment, including increased life expectancy.’ We are
looking to run an overview of what’s what annuity-wise in the near future.
